DEAD MAN SYSTEM

  • It is designed to monitor the ability of the engineer on duty in the engine room.

  • When the engineer enters the engine room , system is set in operation mode, by pressing the button to ON at which point the dormant period (Base Time) countdown starts, this is to  acknowledge the entrance of the Engineer on Duty in the Engine Room.

  • The system should be reset within the preset time limit from the Reset Station.

  • If the system does not detect any reset the alarm will escalate to backup engineer cabin to advise disability of duty personnel. Additionally, the dead man alarm system provides the possibility to call for immediate assistance.

  • After exiting the Engine Room, the Engineer must set the system to OFF position from any of the ON/OFF positions. This is to acknowledge the engineer has left the engine room.
